Lower and Middle School Requirements
At Saint Andrew's School, participation in athletics or physical education is required every year, from Junior Kindergarten through twelfth grade. At every level we insist on good sportsmanship, fair play, sound health and fitness and love of the game.
Whether in PE class or a state championship contest, we also want Saint Andrew's athletes to have fun.
Physical education is the sole component of the athletic program in the Lower School and students participate two days (JK) or three days (K-5) a week. As Lower School students exercise and play on the PE field, they acquire good fitness and sportsmanship habits. They also learn agility, strength and sport-specific skills.
In the Middle School, all students participate in physical education every other day. Middle School students may tryout for the following middle school interscholastic sports: flag football (6), tackle football (7-9), basketball (6-8), cheerleading (6-8), cross-country (6-8)soccer (6-8), lacrosse (6-8), softball (6-8), swimming and diving (6-8), tennis (6-8), volleyball (6-8) and water polo (6-8). Exceptional Middle School student-athletes may also tryout for some sports on the varsity level in the Upper School, only after receiving approval from the athletic director.
