Upper School Requirements
Objective
The physical education program serves to broaden the student's school experience in Mind, Body and Spirit. Participation in cardiovascular and strength training has both immediate and long-term health benefits.
Requirements
Students in grades 9-12 must participate in at least one interscholastic sport each year. Students that are ineligible to participate on an interscholastic team will be required to attend Physical Education.
A student who participates in an activity that Saint Andrew's School does not offer (i.e. equestrian) may apply for an athletic waiver at the beginning of the school year. A waiver must be submitted to the athletic department each year for approval.
In order for a student to receive a passing grade in physical education, he/she must attend, participate in and be properly dressed for at least 75% of the scheduled classes.
Students may be excused from participation in the event of illness or injury for a maximum of two days with a note from the student's parent or guardian. For longer periods of time, a written excuse from the student's physician is required.
